Fall Audition Information
We have incredible music selected for our fall concert ensembles, including a massive world premiere, a djembe feature, a Celtic fife, piano and vocal solos, antiphonal trumpets, and a final exciting piece that combines both bands on stage at once.
We hope that you will take time to carefully prepare your audition music and play your absolute best. We have a place for everyone in one of two fall bands: Wind Symphony and Concert Band.
Placement auditions will take place during the first week of classes in August. Sign up sheets will be posted outside the Band Annex (HREC 1st floor) by Monday, August 17.
NON-MUSIC MAJORS: We have a place for you in TAMUK BANDS! Please print and prepare the excerpts as best you can, and we will find the best ensemble to fit you.
MUSIC MAJORS: All woodwinds, brass, and percussionists must audition, register for and perform in their assigned ensemble.
***String Bass/Piano/Harp Players: we have openings for you, as well. Please email Dr. Jones for more information.
Please see below for links to the auditions excerpts. Most instruments have 3 or 4 examples. In addition to the excerpts, you will be asked to play 1 or 2 full-range major scales (up to 4 sharps or flats) and a brief sight reading. Please note that the auditions will be "blind", which means the faculty will not see you. This ensures the most fair process for everyone.
