Information for Individuals Attending the TAMUK Summer Color Guard Camp
The Color Guard program for this summer camp has been steadily growing in recent years and Mr. Armendariz has a good curriculum of basics for you to take back to your school this summer. Abraham Armendariz has been a member of the Javelina Marching Band since Fall of 2009-2012 and became the assistant guard instructor in Fall of 2013. He has been a two time Open Class finalist for Drum Corps International and has worked with schools around the area. You will spend your day with the Color Guard learning/building your technique, but will get to do the camp activities in the evening along with the rest of the camp members.
You will need:
- 1 weeks’ worth of athletic clothing that allows the body to move freely. Please no jeans, halter tops, or clothing that is inappropriate.
- Appropriate running shoes that have good arch support and no black soles; we don't want to scuff up the floor at all.
- All colorguard flags must be properly crutch tipped, tapped, and weighted.
- A black pair of shorts or jazz pants to be used on the final day with the camp t-shirt as their performance wear for the Friday morning Drum Major & Colorguard Show and Tell.
- If possible, have matching flags with the rest of the members from your school.
- Water Bottle
- A notebook for note taking and organization purposes (optional).
The Color Guard will be in the recital hall at 7:00 pm on Sunday evening f
