Spring 2018 Band Audition Information
There will be four bands in the Spring semester: Wind Symphony (MWF 4-6pm), Concert Band (T/Th 3:30-5:30), University "Blue" Band (MWF 11-11:50), and University "Gold" Band (MWF 1-1:50pm). While Wind Symphony will remain the same from the fall semester, placement in the other three groups will be determined by auditions during the first week of classes in January. Sign up sheets will be posted outside the Band Annex (HREC 1st floor) by Monday, January 15th. The audition includes major scales through 4 sharps or flats, a brief sight reading, and PREPARED EXCERPTS, which are attached below as pdfs (play the passages in the brackets only). Your audition should last no longer than 10 minutes.
* In the event you are placed in a band different from your registration, you will need to adjust your registration (new students, your applied teacher can help with that). You are required to play in the ensemble you've auditioned into.
**If you are interested in auditioning for the Kingsville Symphony Orchestra, please also prepare the ADDITIONAL orchestral excerpts and check the orchestra website for complete instructions.**

Flutes - if you would like to be considered for piccolo, please consult with Dr. Janzen.

Clarinets - if you plan to audition on an instrument other that B-flat Clarinet, please consult with Dr. Lignitz-Hahn. Bass clarinets, please prepare B-flat excerpt #2 on bass and the included bass clarinet excerpt. If you want to be considered for E-flat clarinet, please play the optional e-flat excerpt (in addition to the b-flat excerpts).
