Fall 2016 Audition Information
Placement auditions will take place during the first week of classes in August. Sign up sheets will be posted outside the Band Annex (HREC 1st floor) by Monday, August 15. The audition includes major scales through 4 sharps or flats, a brief sight reading, and PREPARED EXCERPTS, which are attached below as pdfs (play the passages in the brackets only). Your audition should last no longer than 10 minutes.
MUSIC MAJORS: All woodwinds, brass, and percussionists must audition, register for, and perform in their assigned ensemble. If you know any non-majors who may be interested in joining band, please share this page with them.
NON-MUSIC MAJORS: We have a place for you in TAMUK BANDS! Please print and prepare the excerpts as best you can, and we will find the best ensemble to fit you.
***String Bass/Piano/Harp Players: we have openings for you, as well. Please email Dr. Jones for more information.

Special instructions:
Flutes - if you would like to be considered for piccolo, please play excerpt #3 on piccolo (others on flute). Otherwise play all excerpts on flute.
Clarinets - if you plan to audition on an instrument other that B-flat Clarinet, please consult with Dr. Lignitz-Hahn. Excerpts for E-flat and Bass are included below.
